Ridgedale Elementary School

Our goal is to implement at least 8 different gardening projects (e.g., companion planting, edible roots, composting, vermicomposting) with students that utilize raised beds and associated indoor gardening components. The grant will impact the school and community in that our fourth grade projects will become a model for other grades in the school, as well as other schools in the area, to adopt project-based learning about gardening; engage to a greater degree parents in their children's education and health; and stimulate sustainable organic practices (local food production) in students, teachers, parents, and other members of the community.
