Parent volunteers from Red Hill Lutheran School in Tustin, CA constructed an Outdoor Classroom last summer, and it is now know around campus as the RHLS Learning Garden.

Classes Kindergarten through 5th Grade visit the Learning Garden once a month for CA Standards based lessons and hands-on gardening experiences.

Fall Lessons that were planted from seed in October included these salad themes from the GrowingGreat school garden curriculum:  Tops & Bottoms Salad (kindergarten), Plant Parts Salad (1st grade), Vegetable Cousins Salad (2nd grade), Endangered Species Salad (3rd grade), CA Agriculture Salad (4th grade), and Mars Colony Salad (5th grade).

All classes are scheduled to harvest their salad gardens in January, and celebrate their success with a delicious, nutritious school-grown Salad Party!

February will bring on Spring Planting Lessons with themes such as:  Sunflower Houses, Pumpkin Wheels, Rainbow Pollinator Garden, Three Sister's Garden, Ranchero / Mission Garden and a Colonial Kitchen Garden.
