Red Hawk Ridge’s school garden started in the spring of 2007. We have two garden plots, which are cared for by our school’s Garden Club. Garden Club is made up of 25 fourth and fifth graders who meet once a week for the entire school year to learn about and participate in garden /cooking/nutrition activities. Students enjoy planning, planting, and harvesting our produce, and take care of the garden even in the summer when school is not in session. During the winter, we learn to use all five senses to appreciate food and make healthy nutrition decisions. Currently, our Garden Club is looking forward to harvesting during the 2011 garden season!
