Polson Middle School
We finished our first successful growing season in our school garden & saw so much excitement, wonder & curiosity from the students/staff involved! Our current goal is based on the joys, trials & tribulations we faced during the year experiences. To keep our garden successful & growing in interest, we would like to:
-expand our growing capacity by building more raised beds in our current garden area.
-keep student/ volunteer excitement & participation active by extending the growing season, making harvest possible in spring & fall, when our middle school students are present.
-alternative learning opportunities to extend/reach students’ educational needs/ interests that might not be piqued inside the general or special classroom setting
-to ensure safety & security of the harvest & protect the hard work & efforts of everyone involved
-embrace the Native culture within our community to respectfully teach about & incorporate traditional medicinal plants & gathering practices into our garden.
