About the Program: 

In this small, rural community, nutritious fruits and vegetables are not included in the diets of many children and families due to the excessive poverty in this area along with the lack of education about healthy lifestyles. Our goals for this garden include: -start a cycle of healthy living for residents -provide a nutritious food supply for many of our children in the area -provide additional produce for our school cafeteria -provide a positive activity for citizens of the community -provide community service opportunities for students -provide learning opportunities such as: ---meet curriculum standards across disciplines ---address diverse learning styles ---provide hands on learning experiences -Increase self-sufficienty by teaching members of our community how to grow nutritious foods for their families This program is supported by .
