Paul Public Charter School
Our goal is that our garden serve as a teaching tool for students as well as the larger community. We want 100% of students to visit the garden and contribute to its maintenance through a classroom visit, 100 students to complete an in-depth garden curriculum through the Global Health and Wellness elective, and at least 50 community members to participate in 3 seasonal garden events. This grant will permit us to gather supplies that will make it possible for a class of students to work constructively in the garden and secure a coordinator who will plan grade and subject-relevant lessons to facilitate class visits. In addition, the garden coordinator will ensure the garden is a learning environment with clear informative signs that will permit first time visitors-students or community members- to learn simply by being in the garden space. Also, the garden coordinator will plan and promote seasonal community events. We also envision adding art to the community garden (sculpture, weather proof signs, etc.) along with a butterfly and beehive garden.
