About the Program:

Patagonia is a clothing company that strives to "Build the best product, cause no unnecessary harm, use business to inspire and implement solutions to the environmental crisis."  At the corporate headquarters, we strive to achieve this mission throughout all departnments, including the Cafe and Childcare programs.

The Cafe serves over 500 people daily serving lcoal, organic, and sustainable food for employees and their guests.  It features a grab and go market area that supplies housemade snacks and lunches for children (should a parent forget their child's lunch).  The Cafe utilizes a few herb planters located just outside the dining room.  As an added benefit, the Cafe hosts a Farmer's Market once a week to support local ranchers, farmers, and artisan products.  Utilizing its buying power, the Cafe pushes local food distributors to carry more organic and local products and helps other businesses be able to purchase them as well.

The Great Pacific Childcare Development Center provides onsite childcare for employees.  It is a program recognized by President Obama, and strives to serve as a model for other companies who want to do the right thing by their employees. GPCDC was started 30 years ago, and currently has a small garden in which the children help source their snacks and teachers help use it as part of their lessons.
