“Children indeed love flowers, but they need to do something more than remain among them and contemplate their colored blossoms. They find their greatest pleasure in acting, in knowing, in exploring, even apart from the attraction of external beauty.” Dr. Maria Montessori

We believe our gardens will help us foster community, inspire discovery, and reconnect us to the conditions that shape this place. Our gardens are so much more than a source of nourishment and health. They fit within the circular economy and remind us that we must relearn how to fit within our ecosystem again. Our experience will be emergent, just as nature itself, and this grant will allow us to start this critically important journey before the start of the next school year. This application alone has kickstarted our community relationships, has accelerated our understanding of our site along with the level of enthusiasm and dedication for a gardening program. We’re ready to grow food, and we’d love your help!
