Parish Episcopal School
The garden will become a community focal point, uniting parent volunteers, teachers, and students in tending to a living space together. At Parish, the Beasley STEM Center and Fleeger Family Learning Kitchen already set Parish apart nationally as a school with designated space to promote hands-on learning which equips students with the enduring skills as thinkers, collaborators, creators and communicators which they will need in order to be life-ready in a rapidly changing world. We know the addition of our outdoor garden will further enrich the learning experiences afforded our students. The proposed garden serves to complement the activities of the STEM Center and Learning Kitchen. This outdoor learning space will allow students to actively manage a living space. Herbs and vegetables grown in the garden will be used in the Fleeger Kitchen. Outdoor seating and an amphitheater will allow for writing, art, thinking and presenting to be inspired by a natural setting. The garden will become a community focal point, uniting parent volunteers, teachers, and students in tending to a living space together. Finally, the products from our garden and the garden itself will be shared with our local community. This grant will help provide sustainability and also help us purchase the necessary supplies and equipment we need to get our garden started!
