About the Program:

The Paideia School is located in mid-town Atlanta, in the Druid Hills neighborhood. Our program is made possible through PIMBY (Paideia in my backyard) where generous families in our school neighborhood loan us land to convert from lawn to school gardens and a farmlet.  We currently have 2 growing sites off campus that include approximately 1 acre of land within 1 1/2 blocks from our school campus.  We manage a permanent egg laying flock, raise chickens for meat using a pasture-based system, produce most of our compost, operate a small greenhouse in order to supply our farms and gardens with organically grown transplants. We grow approximately 2000 pounds of vegetables, fruit, eggs and meat each year.  We support several local food pantries and soup kitchens. We are Certified Naturally Grown (CNG) and are currently seeking Animal Welfare Approved certification (AWA).  Students participate and manage all aspects of the school farms and gardens.

We also have a large outreach component where studetns connect with local farmers and commnity gardens across Atlanta in order to collaborate on projects and learn from each other.
