Our Lady of Fatima

Our goal is to provide nutritious local food for our school and neighbouring community. The plan is to build 8 raised garden beds, 4 for school planting use and 4 for local community use. We feel a learning garden will help students to understand where their food comes from and therefore increase their awareness of healthy eating habits. Many families in our area live in subsidized housing. Through the community garden beds we will facilitate families through the growing process teaching them to grow and access a sustainable source of fresh nutritious produce. It is through the garden that we plan to bring awareness to the local community about the importance of sustainable food sources inviting local businesses, residents and farmers to be involved.
