About the Program:

Oak Hill Elementary's garden goals are to introduce gardening into the student culture to employ better health and a sense of community and pride for our gardening program. We hope that by expanding the students' knowledgeable it will encourage them to make healthier choices for the future. We would like to provide all students with the opportunity to garden and learn about ecology, botany, and how gardening can be used in other areas of their education like math and social studies. We hope to work together as a community to grow a love of gardening and encourage healthy eating through our PE, Health, and Healthy Living programs. We plan to construct a greenhouse to help grow get an earlier start on planting, a composting system to reduce the school's waste and use natural fertilizers, and incorporate using the produce we grow into healthy eating/cooking demonstration.
