About the Program:

Our goal is to inspire a personal connection between students and the plants and crops that fuel their bodies, clean the air and create a healthy environment for wild animals that live in our suburban environment. Often, children do not know where the food they eat comes from. Growing fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc, allows them to experience the magic of growing crops from seed or seedling. This grant will make outdoor signage possible, which will help remind volunteers and students which plants to leave untouched & left for the students nurturing them and which plants they can tend and harvest without impacting someone else's garden project. Signs will also help the classes doing worm composting manage worm food "donations" that end up compromising the health of the worm bins. The grant will also provide MUCH needed curriculum for each grade level, K - 5, and an infusion of more soil in the raised beds.
