About the Program:

Natomas Unified School District (NUSD) Nutrition Services' mission is to educate and to enable our nutrition service staff to provide healthy meals to the students and the community which nurtures an environment where our guest achieve overall wellness and lifelong success.

We believe that food has the ability to nourish the mind and body of the community through food. We promote students' well being by offering breakfast, lunch, and snack through the National School Lunch Program and supper through the Child and Adult Care Food Program. During the summer, we provide free meals to the greater Natomas are at various school sites and the community centers since 2011.

As the second most diverse school district in the nation, Natomas USD Nutrition Services offers nutritious choices that appeal to our students and our community. Our meals are designed utilizing fresh regional ingredients that enable students to make healthy life choices.

We regularly provide nutrition and culinary education to the classroom to help promote items that students are unfamiliar to students. During Farm to School Month, we have our local farmers, which buy direct, hand out free produce to students at four of our locations. This year included an all school assembly about local food at Natomas Park Elementary and a visit to the farm for our secondary students involved in a culinary club or class.
