About the Program:
The purpose of the Montecito Union Garden Club is to teach our children stewardship of the land, the value of growing their own food and the importance of organic agriculture for our health and the health of our planet. The students will learn where their food comes from and have the opportunity to grow and harvest a variety of fruits and vegetables. Additionally, they will learn to prepare food and menu plan according to the seasons. We hope the garden will grow to be a tool for learning in a multitude of curriculums and serve as outdoor classroom where the children will have a chance to learn and connect with the natural world.
