Minentonka Middle School East Memorial Community Garden
Here is the description from a plaque in our garden:
" This garden was inspired by Rosie DelMain....She felt strongly about the environment and conservationism, and in 7th grade, started a group called Roots and Shoots. The group worked to make the MME community more environmentally friendly and created a vision for a school garden. Rosie was unable to see this vision become a reality. After her death, many people came together to remember Rosie, honor her vision and build her a beautiful vegetable garden at MME. The garden is a tribute to Rosie and the people whose lives she touched. The garden strives to be a model for sustainability and the organic produce harvested from the garden is donated back to the community. "
We plant our own seeds, grow vegetables, along with 3 apple trees and some raspberries. We donate our harvest to the local food shelf.
