Miller Middle School
Miller Middle School administration, faculty, Student Council, MPAC and The Garden Project are working together to establish a comprehensive plan for the Miller Garden. We envision a school-wide environmental studies program incorporating lessons in urban gardening, habitat biodiversity, environmental management, civil engineering, sustainability, horticulture, and ecology. The majority of our students had school gardens at the three elementary schools they attended. We intend to transform unusable space at Miller into a productive, attractive addition to the property where students can continue learning lessons in the outdoor classroom. The school garden will cultivate a sense of community and hands-on learning. The garden has strong volunteer support, which makes us confident that we will meet our fundraising and labor needs. With the assistance of the Whole Kids Foundation we will be able to fund the building of raised beds, fences, and garden irrigation system.
