Meeting Street
The goal of the Meeting Street school garden program is to improve academic outcomes for our students by integrating different curricular areas into an outdoor learning environment. A Whole Kids Foundation grant of $2,000 will provide Meeting Street with the means to expand our current school garden program into a centerpiece for an integrated community-based curriculum. With the expansion of our school garden and creation of an outdoor classroom, Meeting Street hopes to make math and science learning more meaningful and purposeful for our students by bringing abstract concepts to life in the real world of an outdoor habitat. We also hope to integrate our math, science, technology and literacy curricula. Finally, we expect to increase quantity and quality of time spent outdoors by our students and to build connections with community organizations.
