About the Program:

McClure Elementary's Watch Us Grow Garden will enrich its students' k-6 education by incorporating instruction in financial planning, nutrition, civic engagement, environmental awareness, and violence and bullying prevention. The Watch Us Grow committee will guide classes through seasonal units designed to help teachers reinforce their Common Core Standards as set forth by the Oklahoma Department of Education. In doing so, the garden aims to raise the percentage of students scoring satisfactory or above on its Spring 2014 OCCT in math and reading by 10% each from its Spring 2012 Scores (36% math, 39% reading).

Additionally, by involving parents and community stakeholders (PTO), Watch Us Grow aims to invoke pride and school investment through project based learning, garnering a school-wide feeling of togetherness. By fostering positive student engagement in school and in the afternoon, Watch Us Grow plans to raise student attendance from 95.35% to 98% in the 2013-2014 school year.
