mary McLeod BEthune Day Academy and garden partners collaborate with classroom teachers to teach science and nutrition lessons in the school garden and offer a regular after-school enrichment program experiences. Garden activities extend the vital science and nutrition learning beyond the school day and connect students to the development and daily care of their school garden. All students will have the opportunity to benefit from opportunities to learn about science and health in their school garden. Parents and community participate in the gardening experience and students are afforded to share their bounty in the school cafeteria where meals are self-prepared by school staff using local foods, especially harvest garden produce..
