About the Program:

A Little Patch of Earth Preschool is a private, not-for-profit preschool with a mission to connect children to the natural living world through the outdoor classroom.  Our program includes but is not limited to gardening and kitchen work called the Language of Food.  Children ages 2 to 6 use their 8 raised garden beds, butterfly habitat and sensory garden to help make meaning of the world they live in.  Gardens; whole, natural, organic food; and nature; etc. provide a unique language of expression.

Harvesting, washing, and preparing food is a mindful way of connecting children to the beauty, color, texture, smell, taste and wonder of food.  It piques their curisosity about food and as a result, enhances their palate to fresh, whole, healthy food!

Animal and garden care also teach children that they are important catalysts to environmental change and that other living things are reliant on their thoughtful care.  This is a powerful connection for early learners to make and we are proud to create this opportunity to inspire other learning program for preschool age children.

Come by for a visit, visit our website, and collaborate!  We look forward to the many ways we can grow this movement of slow, wholesome, simple living!
