About the Program:
Our basic goal is that students will acquire some basic gardening and horticultural knowledge, learn about and appreciated where food comes from, work together in groups to help with leadership and teamwork skills, and ultimately they make smarter, healthier food choices outside of school and in their daily lives. A majority of the students do not have access to yards or community gardens, so growing something that we eat from a seed, will give them the opportunity to learn about the science of plant growth and give them real-life results, instead of classroom lessons from books and charts.
