Lincoln Public Schools
Our Garden Project mission statement:
To create an outdoor classroom space in the form of a garden that will foster student connections to and appreciation of the natural world through hands on exploration.
To enrich and support existing K-8 curriculum across all disciplines and provide inspiration for new areas of learning.
To help students understand the connections between all living things with an emphasis on human dependence on the natural world for food and other nourishment, the importance of human caretaking of the world around them, and to give students the opportunity to participate in growing their own food.
This grant would allow us to expand the program District-wide to include Hanscom Airforce Base schools, and to further integrate the garden into our curriculum. Expansion examples include: replicating traditional farming practices to support the 3rd and 5th grade units on Historical New England, and creating a salsa patch for the 4th grade Mexico unit.
This program is supported by Lincoln Parent Teacher Organization.
