About the Program:

Students—from 3-year-olds to 5th graders–-engage in planting seedlings and readying the garden space for spring planting, as well as tending the seedlings in the garden, harvesting and enjoying the produce. Learning about the garden life cycle, where food comes from, the science of seedlings, composting, and participating in cooking demonstrations are all natural extensions of the garden program.

Fall brings the opportunity to participate in the Garden to Cafeteria program through Denver Public Schools. Students love harvesting, sharing and enjoying their harvest at the fresh salad bar in the cafeteria.

The Youth Farmers’ Markets, held throughout the fall, are a highlight for the 5th graders and the community. Both the Lincoln family and our neighbors love having access to farm-fresh produce on the playground!

With the help of Slow Food Denver, a grant from Whole Kid Foundation and many excited students, we are looking forward to an even more fun and productive garden season in 2013!
