About the Program:

Our goal is to further integrate the garden into the school community through curricular connections, community service, nutritional awareness, and understanding of the food cycle.

We need students to take responsibility to: coordinate with Biology teachers seedling starts and planting, involve Hanover Street School students ( K-3) in lessons about the garden, keep students informed when garden produce is being served in the cafeteria by using a sign board, coordinate volunteers to assist with harvesting vegetables, document the amount of produce grown and used in the school cafeteria, coordinate with the kitchen staff, write articles and take pictures for the school website, and local newspaper. We would use the grant money to hire two student gardeners, who would take on these responsibilities and be paid by the hour. This job would give the gardeners experience with organizing stakeholders, gardening knowledge and experience, and teaching experience in addition to the salary.
