About the Program:

The League City Elementary student garden club was recently established in March 2012. This organization of students set a goal to communicate and support health and nutrition for our school. They came up with the idea of "Try it...you might like it!" to encourage students in our school to try vegetables and other produce they have never tried before. The students want to extend beyond our current garden by creating container gardens where members partner with each other to grow a vegetable. The goal is for them to learn how to care for the vegetable, research the nutritional benefits, and pass on this knowledge by creating a school publication for the other students in our school. They plan to send samples of their vegetables to the classrooms for students to "try it" and return a short survey to collect data if the students liked it.
