About the Program:

Our garden's goal is to grow salad mix, fresh herbs, and spring and fall veggies on an annual basis. We hope to provide every classroom with a salad party over the spring and fall growing seasons. We are excited to include all grades in our project, including our School Community Based Classrooms: School Community-based Program (SCB) services are designed for students with severe or profound intellectual disabilities and/or multiple disabilities. A Whole Foods grant will allow us to procure supplies to build salad tables and containers that are wheelchair accessible for the SCB children. Additionally, the grant will be used to fund a simple shelving and grow light system on wheels so that seeds can be started indoors in the winter and moved to different classes so that everyone can participate in the seed-to-plant process. Our school is excited and has broad volunteer support for the creation of our new garden!
