Laurie's Community Garden partners with Discovery Hill afterschool program at Myrtle Street United Methodist Church to teach about gardening, food, healthy cooking, etc.  The garden is located at the corner of Vine and North Irving Streets in the Hill Section of Scranton, PA 18510.

Laurie's Community Garden is an a project of Shalom Scranton and sponsors free organic gardening education programs to the public. The demonstation garden is used to teach various growing methods and practices.

 

Shalom Scranton sponsors free organic gardening education programs to the public through the Penn State Extension Master Gardeners. In addition, a demonstationgarden is used to teach various growing methods and practices. There are also individual plots subscribed by community residents who grow vegetables and flowers for their families, neighbors, and many friends.

Laurie’s Garden hosts an annual fundraising event to raise funds to further grow the Garden, provide training and to beautify its surroundings. In addition, proceeds are used for an annual fall Harvest Day to provide a free fun day of games, scarecrow building, and arts and crafts and to teach children about gardening, the harvest season and healthy snacks.
