About the Program:

If Larkspur Elementary were granted these monies, our goal would be to purchase 2-3 complete indoor hydroponic tower gardens including lights that can be rotated between grade levels during the year. Our goal is to give every student the opportunity to learn about alternative ways of gardening. Our Professional Learning Specialist is writing intro lessons for the gardens to get kids acquainted with hydroponics, aeroponics, and vertical gardening. Students will then use the inquiry process to choose seeds, plant, maintain, harvest and take home what they grow. Students will be able to compare and contrast the process of gardening outside with hydroponic gardening inside. Teachers will direct conversations around thinking about impacts on agriculture, cost of food, and water management.
