James Robinson Public School
One of our main goals is to introduce our students to food gardening in order for them to learn first-hand about their role in sustainability. We also intend to promote healthy food choices by providing the opportunity for students to select, grow and harvest thier own food. This hands-on approach to the curriculum is also an authentic venue for 'inquiry based learning, which will engage and motivate "at risk" students. A second goal is to offer gardening as an inclusive activity during a specialized summer camp program we will be running for children with multi-exceptionalities through the YRDSB Continuing Education Department. A third goal is to unite and celebrate the many cultures represented at our school through growing a variety of vegetables reflecting the diversity of our students. The grant will enable us to pay for 3, 3' x 6' x 18" raised curriculum based food beds and reap the amazing benefits of the cost share Seeds for Change program. This program is supported by .
