J E Moss Elementary School
Initially, our garden will be the focus for Project Based Learning for our school of nearly 1000 students. Students will answer driving questions designed to solve problems in our school, community and country. The research to answer these questions will be cross-curricular and student driven. Students will also have voice and choice in the selection of the problems and the presentation of the research. The research and solutions will be presented to a community based audience at the conclusion of the project. We hope to start with one project per grade level this year ( 6 projects) increasing to 2 projects per grade level next year. Also we are planning parent involvement opportunities, Art in the Garden, Reading under the Stars, Iron Chef Competition (Garden Style), in addition to the fantastic community involvement that we had last week as we put in 12 raised beds on our campus.
