J. Albert Adams Academy
The goal of our garden will be to engage students in activities that promote healthy food choices, increase the awareness of environmentally friendly gardening, and enrich instruction in all content areas.
With this grant we will be able to extend our partnership with the Chesapeake Ecology Center to include vegetable gardening in our environmentally responsible landscaping choices. The vegetables grown in this garden will be donated to the families of students enrolled in the school and community organizations such as the senior public housing apartments located near our school. This grant will allow us to continue and extend our Green School Program, by having students participate in outdoor cooperative learning projects and using the compost from our student led compost program in our vegetable garden.
