About the Program:

The Educational Garden Project aims to strengthen the educational work aimed at the formation of social values, cultural and food compatible with the preservation of the country's culture, the environment and the promotion of healthy eating habits. It is an educational tool for understanding the relationship between the environment and healthy eating, linking them to health, citizenship and quality of life.

The project, designed for children 4 to 8 years, aims to deploy educational gardens for public education units, by signing agreements. The goal is to teach, mixing theoretical and practical concepts of Environmental Education, Nutrition and Enhancement via the Rural Horticulture.

The interdisciplinary activity lasts one year and includes four types of handouts: Book of Activities for Children; Educator's Notebook, Notebook's Caregiver Notebook Horta and the Family. All educators and caretakers of the garden were trained by technicians of the Department of Agriculture. The children visited the Experimental Farm in Cantareira to meet day to day in the field.

The techniques were tested with educators and students in a showcase garden located next to the creche at the Palacio dos Bandeirantes.

Beyond the garden at Bandeirantes Palace and the House of Solidarity II, two others are being grown: one in Curuçá and one in San Remo, units administered by the Child Citizen.

Partners: Partner with the Ministry of Agriculture and Supply (project developer) and the Municipal Social Fund (which will exercise the coordination of the project in the municipalities).

The project also has the support of TV Cultura, which ceded the use of images of the children's series "Cocoricó" illustration for teaching material.
