A grant through the partnership of the Whole Kids Foundation and Food Corps will help to expand upon the mission of Holy Family Academy. Holy Family Academy is an independent private Catholic high school with the philosophy of the school based on the dignity and value of work as necessary to live a meaningful life.

The goal of the garden is to teach students to grow their own food and share literally the “fruits” of their labor, while learning the true spirit of community giving, through sharing their crops with the campus kitchen and those in the community. The process of establishing a garden will help students to work as a team, learn biology and earth science, sustainability and nutrition. Many of our students come from low-income families and have experienced food insecurity or little access to fresh fruits and vegetables. The opportunity to experience fresh fruit and vegetables, and their importance to nutrition, could potentially impact generations of families in our community.
