Helms Elementary

Our goal, along with the Principal, is to restore our garden to its former glory. It was once a thriving symbol of nature, in the heart of Houston, TX, as well as a symbiotic and integral piece of the classroom learning at our Dual Language School. Our principal, Mr. Baker, has led schools with successful gardens in the past, and it is our goal that this garden be an outdoor classroom, and a resource for the students to learn about plants, ecology, healthy eating and supporting the community in which they live. We plan to have a Helms Harvest, twice per year, where we can provide healthy food choices for our students and their families, of which 74% are Economically Disadvantaged.
