About the Program:

Currently funded by an AmeriCorps planning grant, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden and Cooking with Kids have partnered to develop a new program that will bring AmeriCorps members into local schools to teach a combined garden and kitchen curriculum. While the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, among its other environmental education endeavors, works to support school gardens and teachers, Cooking with Kids works in schools to teach hands-on food and nutrition education programs. The two organizations realized, that by combining capacities and capabilities, they could provide educational programming not only on how to prepare and try new foods, but on where that food comes from and how it grows. Now guided by the shared mission to increase awareness of the food system among children in northern New Mexico, these two organizations are working together to realize such a program for the 2018-2019 school year.
