Greenway Youth Garden
The Greenway Youth Garden began in 2009 with parent volunteers focused on creating a garden on the ground of Greenway Elementary School. Through long hard hours and donated materials the garden popped up on the South East side of the school. A recycled pallet and stucco wall surrounds the 4,800 square foot garden that contains a circular stone meeting area as well as 18 raised beds made from recycled pallets, two by tens lumber and cinder blocks. The Mission: To provide direct access to a plant rich garden environment for elementary age children in Bisbee, AZ. The garden will be used as an experiential learning lab to plant, maintain and harvest "real food" in an effort to increase the children's food experience and educate them about nutrition, life cycles of edible food, and the carbon foot print of our food.
