Geneva Elementary School
Students will be taught various methods of growing with an emphasis on sustainability and conservation. Many dis-advantaged communities around the world can benefit from the scientific knowledge we will share with our students for years to come. Perhaps one or many of our students and community members will take what they learn here and share it with someone else...
Initially, the use will be for nutritional education through taste testing and use in the cafeteria. We have been awarded a Community Garden grant that will allow us to produce more as the program is implemented and the new planting beds are assembled and put into production. At that point the food will be distributed fairly among the students and community including the Saddlebag program. This is a back pack program that provides food for families of free and reduced meal programs for the weekends. Currently 40 families benefit from this program that is put together by PTA volunteers on Friday mornings.
