About the Program:

Gardeneers cultivates customized school garden programs to ensure that each space and the students and communities who care for it connect with healthy food and grow to their full potential.

Founded in 2014, Gardeneers provides garden education programming with students in 25 schools in Chicago. We focus on schools in low income, food desert communities where there is a lack of access to fresh, healthy food.

We started our organization based on the countless studies that show that student performace and achievement is drastically impacted by the level of nutrition they have access to. With our programs, we teach students about health, nutrition, cooking, and environmental stewardship, and immerse them in the education of growing organic food, something we believe to be an important life skill. One of our main goals is to get our produce back into the schools and the community, and we are certified in the CPS Garden to Cafeteria program.
