About the Program:

Our goal is to provide an engaging, hands-on, plant-based learning environment, teaching the students care for creation, organic gardening and social justice. The garden will provide an unparalleled environment for students to learn the joy of the natural world, the myriad varieties of edible plants, and valuable ecological principles. We want to build a greenhouse in order to extend the growing season, increase the year round harvest, maximize student involvement, and enhance scientific experimentation. We would like to include an edible native plant garden, including paw paws, blackberries, blueberries, red mulberries and artichokes to teach students about sustainability, biodiversity and eco-literacy. This grant will allow the school community to learn the importance of organic farming and also allow them to give back to the larger community. Our goal is to respond to the needs in our community by continuing to donate our harvest to the InterFaith Food Shuttle.
