Forest Park Community Garden
Forest Park Community Garden is located in Forest Park, Illinois, a small Village 8 miles from downtown Chicago. Before FPCG was established in 2008, there were no resources for Forest Park residents who wanted to garden but didn't have a place to do so.
Forest Park Community Garden's mission is to educate the community on how to build organic sustainable food systems, to provide fresh organic produce to needy families and to beautify our community through gardening. The garden is located on approximately 1 acre of public land and consists of 51 raised garden plots, a charity garden area, and perennial native plant gardens. Currently there are approximately 25 individuals and families who use the garden to grow their own food. Also, other volunteers grow produce that is donated to the local food pantry. A variety of events are held throughout the year including garden picnics, educational classes, and our very popular annual seed swap.
