About the Program: 

The Foodcycle Project (Alimentociclo in portuguese) is a street food cart adapted to store and manage educative kits and tools. The education activities approach differents subjects around food adopting a sistemic way of understanding.

We act offerring courses, workshops and activities for schoolar groups (from kindergarten to high school), for community and productive groups in rural and traditional localities, and also for groups of lunch maids, parents and teachers. Yet, we offer activities in open space public events such as gastronomic feasts and farmers markets. 

Our objectives are:

- to sensitize and disseminate people for the pleasures of eat, for the culture of food, for the traditional ways of producing and preparing food

- to disclose local and traditional cuisines and small producers

- to produce and share tools and methodologies for for environment, food, and taste education

- to support consumers with knowledges of the food system and the food products, providing better and responsible choices.

- to improve sensorial habilities in general public to recognize qualities in food products

- to encourage children and youth to go the kitchen and cultivete their own herbs and spices

- to encourage people to buy foo from local producers

- to encourage traditional groups to keep their traditional production and preparation and support them to generate income 

- to create interchanges of experiences in food and taste education

We are very engaged in Slow Food and Terra Madre since 2006, and we act towards its guidelines. The cart is going to be launched this month. However, our action in schools and events started in 2009.
