About the Program:

FoodShare Toronto’s Field to Table Schools (FTTS) program is restoring good food education in schools with hands-on activities, workshops and growing projects. Students from JK to Grade 12 learn about composting, innovative food gardens, nutrition, cooking, local and global food systems and more. The FTTS program reconnects students with food and where it comes from; teaching that good healthy food not only tastes good, but is fun too!

Using the Ontario curriculum from JK to Grade 12, there are many points where the food system can be brought to life. The FTTS team has designed a comprehensive list of creative workshops and teaching tools to support this important work. Teachers can access these resources and activity ideas online, or arrange a workshop either in-class, or as a field trip to FoodShare’s 90 Croatia Street location to get involved.

In 2011, FoodShare’s FTTS Educators led nearly 3000 students and over 750 educators through interactive workshops and hands-on activities, all of which are open source.
