About the Program:

Evergreen Community Charter School is a K-8 Expeditionary Learning public charter in Asheville, North Carolina, in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Evergreen's Community and Student Supported Agriculture Project is an effort to transform our curriculum and community by growing more food, feeding more people, and enjoying the flavors and community of our vibrant local foods economy.  From kindergartener's curiosity-driven exploration of how plants are similar and different to an eighth grader's application of landscape math and design math, our garden is a living laboratory where our students are challenged to explore and apply academic concepts, engage in hard, rewarding work, and participate actively in a school-wide project that nurtures us all through the production of tasty, nutritious food.

Evergreen is committed to the pursuit of excellence in holistic education of mind, body, and spirit. We prepare students for successful lifelong learning, social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and service.
