About the Program: 

As a cookbook author and kitchen garden designer, I see opportunities for schools to create beautiful gardens that go beyond growing basic food. I work with school gardeners who seek creative ways to build edible garden areas to invite the whole school community to spend time outdoors connecting to the food that is grown miraculously from a small seed.
 

I have published several books, including The Complete Kitchen Garden, where I share garden design themes and recipes for cooks who love to garden. Many of these same techniques can be adapted for school gardens to create environments where work turns into play, and food becomes a source inspiration in the kitchen to prepare healthy menus.
 

I am currently working on a new book to showcase edible school garden designs, to assist schools in the planning process and welcome input and suggestions from those who have learned along the way.
