Earl Warren Junior High School

I am a 7th grade Science teacher at Earl Warren Junior High School in Bakersfield, CA.  In fact, some of my students that will be coming to my classroom in the Fall 2012, will have come from Buena Vista Elementary School that currently has an Edible Garden!

My college degree is in Food and Nutrition and I have always had an interest in good health.  Now, more than ever, it is necessary to teach our children about good nutrition.  And, what better way than the Edible Garden! 

Now, I'd like to help these students transition into a junior high school setting that does not have a garden!  Ever so slowly I am making it my mission to  promote healthier school lunches!  Back to 'from scratch' cooking, getting rid of chocolate milk, provide 'free' water to students during lunch, and discontinuing the sale of packaged foods in an 'ala carte' setting are my main goals!
