About the Program:

The goals of the greenhouse/garden are:
- To teach students how to grow their own food
- To allow students hands-on experience with plants and the needs of plants
- To develop civic minded students by having them grow food that will be shared with community food banks
- To build up an awareness of nature and its importance in our daily lives
- To help enhance students' awareness of world needs and how we must help one another in order to survive

The grant would make it possible for the activities and programs offered to be expanded. It would allow more interaction between grade levels (multi-grade projects) and would permit the Master Gardeners to assist the students in growing and donating more food to the community food banks. The grant would also allow for tools and materials to be replaced that have become worn out due to high usage. In addition, other agencies would benefit from the produce grown. (Ex: God's Storehouse, a local community food bank.
