About the Program: 

The intended goal of the Dr. Sun Yat Sen School garden is to develop a curriculum that incorporates literacy, math, art and reading concepts to help students with new test taking standards . The garden program at Dr. Sun Yat Sen Middle School has partnered with the Leave It Better reGeneration Program to empower students with video literacy and 21st century technology skills which will help them with college entrance and future job seeking. The school garden's goals are also empower students with environmental stewardship skills and prepares youth to provide sustainable environmental solutions. The garden's visions are to get students talking about what it means to Leave It Better and to become skillful stewards of the Earth. The Whole Kids Foundation Grant will help bring a tangible food education system to Dr. Sun Yat Sen School. Students will have the opportunity to plant seeds in an outdoor setting and see food in all its stages from seed, to plate.
