About the Program:

We want to create an educational space where students who have Severe Intellectual Disabilities will be able to interact with their same age General Education Peers. This grant will enable us to work together with teachers and students from the science and culinary departments to take a barren piece of land on our school property and turn it into something amazing. As our garden expands the pre-school on our campus will have access to their own gardening bed to begin learning about healthy living by bringing food form the garden directly to their plates. This garden space will be a catalyst for friendship and educational productivity where students of diverse backgrounds will share in the wonder of planting seeds and harvesting food together! Our initial goal is to start with five 8ft by 4ft raised garden beds. As we demonstrate success we plan to add additional gardening beds as feasible. We will also want to build two wheelchair accessable garden planters 3X3 feet 36"high.
