Crescent Academy's goals for the garden project are primarily to expose our students to the integral connection between gardening, community, environmental awareness and the ability to draw real world connections. Earth Science is a vital aspect of Crescent Academy's science curriculum. Giving students the ability to increase kinetic learning skills through gardening will not only increase student achievement but more importantly bridge learning gaps. Allotting students to plant seeds, nourish them and watch seeds transform will give students the opportunity to make real world connections and gain an interest in science and nutrition. These goals coupled with self-efficancy, collaborative learning and positive social interpersonal skills will cultivate a well-rounded student that upholds respect amongst planet earth.
